"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

Missions Partnership with West Africa
March 2008 Misson Trip to Ghana
Missions and evangelism are top priorities for First Baptist Church because it is what Jesus instructed his church to do prior to his departing the earth. Jesus' work on earth is described in Matthew 4:23, "And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people." Our church's Mission Statement, "Sharing the Love of Jesus from West Memphis, Arkansas to the ends of the earth through Preaching the Gospel, Teaching the Bible, and Healing the Hurting" is based on that verse.
Neighborhood outreach in our community is encouraged with training/accountabililty meetings at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoons. Local missions ministries in our Jerusalem include a food pantry and weekly worship services at a nursing home in Marion. Ministries to those in our Judea and Samaria include a truckstop ministry and a new church plant, Grace Church in downtown Memphis, TN.
In 2007, the church began a partnership with Southern Baptist Convention missionaries Phillip and Teresa Lyons and Pastor Daniel Seidu of the God's Glory Baptist Church in Wa, Ghana. The purpose of the partnership is to join God in His work among the Wala, an unreached people group living in Ghana and Burkino Faso, West Africa. Two or three trips are planned annually.
The following missions/evangelism ministry opportunities are available to anyone interested:
1. Neighborhood Outreach
2. Food Pantry Ministry (weekly on Tuesday mornings
from 10:00-11:30 a.m. except on 5th Tuesdays)
3. Truck Stop Ministry (weekly on Sunday mornings from 7:00-8:00 a.m.)
4. Nursing Home Ministry (Sundays at 2:00 p.m.)
